Kestrel Thermoplastics Strengthens Commitment to a Lower Carbon Future 

At Kestrel Thermoplastics and Northern Road Markings, sustainability is more than an aspiration – it is becoming an integral part of how we operate, innovate and support our customers across the highways sector. 

We are pleased to announce the completion of our latest Carbon Reduction Plan, developed in partnership with sustainability specialists Auditel. The plan establishes a clear baseline for our carbon emissions, identifies practical opportunities to reduce our environmental impact and sets ambitious, science-based targets that will guide our journey towards Net Zero.  

As a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic road marking materials, we recognise the important role we have to play in reducing emissions across our operations while continuing to deliver the high-performance products our customers rely on. 

A clear roadmap for the future 

Our Carbon Reduction Plan commits Kestrel Thermoplastics and Northern Road Markings to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, with significant milestones along the way, including: 

• A 42% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2034  

• A 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2034  

• Working with suppliers to encourage the adoption of their own science-based carbon reduction targets.  

These targets are aligned with recognised Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) guidance and provide a robust framework for continuous improvement. 

Turning ambition into action 

Our focus is not simply on setting targets, but on delivering meaningful change. 

The Carbon Reduction Plan identifies a wide range of initiatives that will help reduce emissions across our business, including: 

• Improving energy efficiency across our facilities  

• Exploring renewable electricity and solar energy opportunities  

• Designing future buildings with sustainability at their core  

• Evaluating lower-carbon fuels and electric vehicles  

• Reducing waste and improving recycling  

• Working more closely with suppliers to reduce emissions throughout our supply chain  

• Encouraging sustainable travel and environmentally responsible working practices.  

Many of these initiatives are already under consideration as part of our long-term investment in more sustainable operations.
